The construction industry often blames itself for being too old-fashioned, and people outside the industry are fond of telling us that construction doesn’t make good use of technology.
But when your basic raw materials are steel, cement, stone and wood and you’re working ankle-deep in mud, what do people expect?
They probably expect that construction professionals are just getting to grips with texting from their obsolete Nokia phones. But they are wrong, as we learn on page 27 of this issue. It appears that when it comes to social media, the construction industry is surprisingly canny and knows how to connect to the outside world. Wonders will never cease.
