May 2018 – Hillhead Supplement
Tarmac’s Hillhead Quarry, near Buxton in the Derbyshire Peak District, is an actual working quarry – but next month it will see an unprecedented invasion of
quarry equipment.
Crushers, screeners, excavators, dump trucks and just about every other item of plant common found in a quarry (plus several rarely seen in such an environment) will crowd the place out.
The biennial event is the world’s biggest gathering of mining and quarrying technology, attracting visitors from all over Europe and beyond.
With 525 UK and overseas companies booked into Hillhead 2018, the event will be 10% larger than ever before, easily surpassing the 476 exhibitors that attended in 2016.
Show director Richard Bradbury explained: “Growth has come from additional outdoor space created at the top end of the site and the registration pavilion, which has doubled in size and will host 90 companies this year.
“With the main pavilion selling out before the end of last year and enquiries still flooding in, we made the decision to extend again, creating the opportunity for an additional 30 exhibitors to attend.
“A record number of demonstrations are also being planned,” added Bradbury.
In this special supplement we present a selection of some of the equipment that is on show at Hillhead 2018, as well as taking a look at some of the pressing issues currently affecting the mineral products sector.
